Matariki Fantastic Whanau Day

Last week on Thursday it was Paihia Schools Matariki celebration day. Some of the kids from school went down to the beach to see the stars and then came to school at 7 am for breakfast. Then when school started Te Ngahere (my class) did our artwork about our family using koru and kowhaiwhai patterns. Later at lunch the whole of Paihia School had a shared lunch on the deck by the Whare. The juniors went first and we were allowed to have 2 things each and then when we were done we  could come back for 2nds. After lunch we played games with  a man called Harko Brown. We played Maui and Matou (left and right) and we threw these poi things to a partner or two. Later on we planted some Ti Kouka (cabbage trees), Reinga Lily’s and lots more. I planted about five trees. This was the best day ever I can’t wait to see what the trees look like in years to come.
